Manama: A women’s group in Bahrain has relaunched with a new name and logo this new year. Women of India series Bahrain has renamed itself as WOMEN ACROSS and the logo of the team was yesterday unveiled by prominent Bahraini Businesswoman and Shura Council member Mona Almoayyed. The launch was done at Ms. Almoayyed’s Manama office, alongside Women Across representatives, who also handed over the first copy of their annual calendar.
The calendar features prize-winning paintings and drawings by children and women which the group conducted last month.
“We started WISB as a women’s camp hoping to meet as a group and continue it as a series,” said Sumithra Praveen, one of the two founders of Women Across.
“But with the pandemic changing the scenario we had to take to virtual platforms, and during the past one year, we witnessed that we could cater to a larger audience through this platform and hence we did not want to limit it to a series or countries.
“This prompted us into this new name and new look.
“We would like to partner with women from across the world, based in Bahrain and outside.” Ms Praveen thanked Ms Almoayyed for her blessings and support in the new journey of Women Across.
“We also take this opportunity to thank the American Mission Hospital who provided us the great support for bringing out the first-ever calendar of Women Across which features the drawings of the winners.” The competition titled Hope 21, was conducted in association with Smart Kids.
