Manama: Jose “Shorty” Torres is one of the first athletes to benefit from the vision of KHK MMA and BRAVE Combat Federation, founded by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The first-ever two-time amateur world champion in the IMMAF, Torres was part of the original roster of athletes from KHK MMA and saw his career skyrocket from there.
Under KHK MMA, he was able to focus on his blossoming career, while not having to worry about anything else, something he earned through his performances in the amateur scene. He caught the eye of KHK MMA and the rest, as they say, is history.
With a professional record of eight wins and only one loss, and two titles in the United States’ regional scene, the Chicago-born Mixed Martial Artist joined BRAVE Combat Federation in search of his first world championship.
His debut came in April, 2019, with a convincing and dominant victory over Amir Albazi, who was then undefeated in his career. The win made Torres a no-brainer for the upcoming BRAVE CF Flyweight World Title Tournament, which kicks off at BRAVE CF 42, on September 24th, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Torres’ first challenge in the eight-man tournament is going to be against his fellow countrymen Sean “Shorty Rock” Santella. A veteran of the USA MMA scene, Santella is one of the toughest men in the tournament, and could very well be one of the favorites. Nothing new for Torres, who has never had any easy fights, and joined BRAVE CF in 2019 in hopes of getting even bigger challenges.
No challenge in the Flyweight division worldwide will be greater than the BRAVE CF Flyweight tournament and, working under famed coach Din Thomas in Florida will have ‘’Shorty’’ prepared to take the KHK MMA flag to even higher places within the sport. His road towards glory starts on September 24th, when he headlines BRAVE CF 42 against Santella at the Kombat Kingdom series.
