Bahrain, IAEA technical cooperation discussed

Manama, The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the National Committee on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and Their Destruction, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, virtually met the Director of the Department of Technical Cooperation for Asia and the Pacific at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Jane Abaya.

Dr. Shaikha Rana stressed Bahrain’s keenness to expand cooperation with the IAEA at various levels to meet common aspirations, hailing the results of the previous session of the technical cooperation program with IAEA for 2018 – 2020, which had a positive impact on developing the performance of many vital sectors in the Kingdom, especially in the health, environmental and scientific fields.

Abaya commended Bahrain’s efforts in developing technical cooperation programs, noting the remarkable progress achieved in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, wishing the Kingdom further progress and prosperity.

The two sides exchanged views on the technical cooperation framework for Bahrain for 2022-2023 in the field of health, food, agricultural, and nuclear security, in addition to approving strategic work programs in the field of health, environment and customs affairs.

Representatives from the Supreme Council for the Environment, the University of Bahrain, the Customs Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, and other relevant authorities participated in the meeting.
