Speaker stresses parliamentary support for measures to combat COVID-19

Manama, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has affirmed continuous parliamentary support for the measures taken by the kingdom to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and backing of all national initiatives aimed at overcoming the current challenges and achieving stability across all sectors and fields in the country, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The speaker made the statements while paying an inspection visit to the COVID-19 testing centre at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, where she was informed about the procedures taken to test suspected cases or those who contacted confirmed patients.

She lauded the world-standard advanced measures and procedures taken there, as well as the full preparedness of the testing facility, which, she said, reflects the distinguished efforts exerted by the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

This reassures everyone that the kingdom has a clear vision that confirms its ability to overcome the current challenge and ensure the safety of all, she said.

The speaker stressed the importance of public awareness amid the recent measures to gradually return to normal life, as the best means to prevent the spread of the virus, support the development efforts, and achieve stability at the economic and social levels.

She lauded the distinguished national role played by the frontline heroes of the fight against COVID-19, praising their sacrifices and dedication for the sake of ensuring national interests and the safety of the citizens and residents.
