COVID-19: Precautionary measures introduced by Representatives Council

Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has instructed the Council’s Secretariat-General to implement a number of precautionary and preventive measures, in coordination with the Shura Council, to ensure the health and safety of the members and staff of the National Assembly. The decision comes in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to combat Coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to the directives:

Pregnant employees and those with special needs were exempted from reporting to the Council of Representatives during official working hours.

The number of employees at the Council during its official working hours will be reduced to 50 % and the staff will wok alternately in a way that would not affect the Parliament’s work.

The Speaker praised the efforts of the National Taskforce for Combating Cronavirus (COVID-19) and stressed that all Bahrainis should join together to get through these extraordinary times.
